Walking into the clean and minimalistic building, a person is greeted by clean white walls, a hard wood floor and reception desk. Behind is a main room with padded mats, a wall of mirror to one side, weights and full cupboards of practice weapons and padded armor against another wall. The room has doorways to smaller training rooms, a kitchenette and showers. Everything is clean, well-ventilated and has an Asian feel, but not cheesy, just peaceful and focused.
On the desk is a stack of schedules and summaries of the many types of classes and techniques available, for all levels and ages, kendo to tai chi to Brazilian kick boxing. Next to the brochures is this note:
Greetings, you have reached the Kinkou Dojo and Martial Arts Center. We offer many forms of both hand-to-hand as well as assisted styles of martial arts and are open to the public. Please talk to Sensei Anakin if you have any questions.
